Resources available for Postgraduate Research Students

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology usually has 10-20 postgraduate research students enrolled at any given time.

General information relating to postgraduate student research at the University of Melbourne is available in the University's Postgraduate Student Handbook and on the Postgraduate Student website.

Students undertaking postgraduate study within the Department begin with an induction session provided by supervisor.

Students have their own desk and lockable cupboard and/or drawer for personal belongings. Students are provided with a key which will enable them to have 24 hour access to the Department.

Access to the Department's facilities are available to all students. These include:

  • Computer and University supported software for each student
  • "Wet" and "dry" laboratory space, equipment and consumables as necessary
  • Photocopying, printing, internet, telephone, fax and email facilities
  • Inter-library loans

A maximum of $500.00 per annum is available for conference and travel funding for each student for a national meeting at which the student presents work. Support for international meeting attendance for presentation of work at the end of their degree is also considered.
